USA. Travellers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) can now have food and beverages delivered to them within the gate areas through a new service from 1 May. The enhanced service is an expansion of the airport’s LAXOrderNow.com mobile ordering platform powered by Servy’s Grab Airport Marketplace technology, in partnership with delivery app AtYourGate. It enables contactless order, payment and pickup from restaurants throughout the LAX terminals.
“Our guests have told us they want digital-first, streamlined services from the time they enter the airport until they depart at the gate,” said Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Chief Executive Officer Justin Erbacci. “Offering food & beverage delivery to the gate areas is yet another game-changing feature that sets the new LAX experience apart for its convenience and range of options to enhance the travel experience.”
Chris Hartman, Co-Founder of AtYourGate, said; “Giving travellers the option to order food to be delivered to their gate is important in an evolving landscape, where digitisation and time-saving technology should be a top priority for airports. We’re pleased to be working with this major hub, bringing more dimensions to the experience it offers its large and diverse passenger demographic.”
AtYourGate delivery is managed by LAX in partnership with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) and Servy, the enterprise self-service platform for hospitality.
“Bringing gate delivery services to more locations is a great achievement for both us at Servy and our partner AtYourGate. Travellers can tailor the way they order and pay for food to their own preferences,” said Jeff Livney, Chief Experience Officer at Servy. “This is particularly pertinent now, when our customers are more than ever keen to have safe, convenient and contactless options at airports.”
Guests can scan QR codes throughout the terminals or visit LAXOrderNow.com to browse menus, place an order and pay. When checking out, guests in eligible terminals who want delivery will select that option at checkout for an additional delivery fee. Guests will be notified on their mobile device when orders are on their way and when they arrive in the designated gate area, and each participating restaurant provides an estimated delivery time to help ensure food arrives before their departure.
“This is about always putting the customer first and creating a seamless commercial experience,” said URW Executive Vice President and Group Director of Airports Mike Salzman. “Delivery is a really exciting step toward giving guests greater convenience and freedom as they travel. Launching this service on the LAXOrderNow.com platform is a reflection of our best-in-class partners LAWA, Servy and AtYourGate.”
As reported, in March Servy and AtYourGate announced plans to extend their joint services across many more US airports.
